The Hour of God

From the back of the Hour of God by Sri Aurobindo.
ISBN: 978-81-7058-834-4
with pieces written from 1910 – 1940.

Man’s greatness is not in what he is but in what he makes possible. His glory is that he is the closed place and secret workshop of a living labour in which supermanhood is made ready by a divine Craftsman.

But he is admitted to a yet greater greatness and it is this that, unlike the lower creation, he is allowed to be partly the conscious artisan of his divine change. His free assent, his consecrated will and participation are needed that into his body may descend the glory that will replace him. His aspiration is earth’s call to the supramental Creator.

If earth calls and the supreme answers, the hour can be even now for that immense and glorious transformation.

Maya and Deconstruction

This is the beginning of the last chapter of the 7 Secrets of Shiva by Devdutt Pattanaik and it is called Nataraja‘s secret: destruction is deconstruction.

Brahma creates. Shiva destroys. Brahma is not worshipped. Shiva is worshipped. This is because Brahma creates Kama, Yama and Tripura, desire, death and the three worlds. Shiva is Kamantaka, Yamantaka and Tripurantaka, destroyer of desire, death and the three worlds.

Humans desire life, fear death, and construct three worlds because humans fear death more than any other living creature on Earth. Our fear is greater because we can imagine. We imagine what happens after death, we imagine a world without death, we imagine a world without us and wonder what is the point of life. Unable to make sense of things, we try to control life – we get attached to things, we resist change, and we create property. Human civilization is thus rooted in fear. Its a delusion. Brahmanda or culture is Maya. Read more »

confusion wont be my epitaph

And with dust in throat I crave -> Only knowledge will I save -> To the game you stay a slave..
And the Earth becomes my throne -> I adapt to the unknown -> Under wandering stars I’ve grown
By myself but not alone -> I ask no one…
And my ties are severed clean -> Less I have, the more I gain -> Off the beaten path I reign
Buddhist, Catholic, Dharmic, Islamic -> Call me what you will! -> And you will, yeah!

Articles of Faith

To Reinforce the memory of the people I have loved and cherished on our short journeys together, I wish to ANONYMOUSLY list out all the articles of Faith.

I guess I got to come away with a beautiful point of view from Bellevue. The icing on the cake was the Champagne and Toast I made to the Lion Hearted!

Before I begin, I leave you with the haunting/fleeting memory of Outside the Wall

thank you england

I was there in 1997 when Elton John sang “goodbye englands rose”, my niece is British and so are many of the loveliest people I know (the likes of David Gilmour, George Harrison)

Dear Lionhearted,

With Zebras to symbolise the black and white lessons you taught us as you spread the truly catholic message of One World.

Our center (Greenwich) literally, industrially, poetically and symbolically, for it is truly English that unites us. Read more »

Introducing Sophia

Dear beloved members of my cosmic family,

If you happened by, you may want to consider getting on our list Sophia – the place for religiosity, not religion. Cause we don’t ever want to be singing *losing my religion*, instead focusing on Our Similarities, nor do we ever want to have a reluctant Messiah or have to burn anyone at the stake. All that is PAST – in the DARK ages. Theyre over now, Jesus and Mohammed helped us get over them. Read more »

Reciprocity

What has America taught the world? Well everything the British left out?
What did the British leave out? Well stuff the Japanese taught us… ad… absurdum…

America taught us
– ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU…
– To love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills
– as I touch my foot upon this fertile soil, I feel the source of our creation! (jimmy messina / its all right here)
– and to every other beautiful shrine in this world, its the place where religion is so alive and well
– where heroes are born everyday and are proud to be of one higher calling (Green Lantern) Read more »
